The Diamond Waffle Stitch – Pattern Description

The diamond waffle is not as hard to crochet as it looks. once you are past row 3 where you have to count stitches, everything gets a lot easier and the result is gorgeous.

The diamond waffle stitch is a mixture of double crochet rows and front post treble stitches combined to create a textured diamond-shaped net over a dense fabric that looks like a. It works great for blankets, baby afghans, shawls, and accessories.

Front Post Treble (fptr)

The front post treble stitches are created in the same way as all the other front post stitches.

Step 1: Yo twice

Step 2: Insert the hook around the post of the stitch below(in this case the sc stitch) (3 loops on hook)

Step 3: Yo and pull up a loop (4 loops on hook)

Step 4: Yo and pull through 2 loops on hook (3 loops on hook)

Step 5: Yo and pull through 2 loops on hook (2 loops on hook)

Step 6: Yo and pull through the 2 remaining loops on the hook. Your Front Post Treble is complete.

Front Post Treble Two Together (fptr2tog)

As the title implies, you crochet 2 front-post treble stitches together. It doesn’t matter if the two fptr stitches are crocheted around the same post or around 2 different posts. In this case, out 2 fptr stitches are crocheted around different posts and joined together at the top.

Step 1: Make your first incomplete front post treble: yo twice, insert your hook around the post stitch 2 rows below (in this case the sc stitch) and pull up a loop (4 loops on hook), yo and pull through 2 loops on hook (3 loops on hook), yo and pull through 2 loops on hook (2 loops on hook), leave the incomplete fptr on the hook.
