Crochet Poppy Pin Free Pattern

Poppy Flower Pin – Free Crochet Pattern
Today I am sharing with you a new pattern for a poppy pin. I have made before a poppy brooch, a poppy flower applique, a Tunisian poppy flower, and even a poppy baby blanket, but I realized I have not yet made a version that can be turned into a pin.
Remembrance Day is around the corner and I wanted you to have this pattern just in time so you can make a bunch of them for your friends and family.
The pattern is quick and simple and works up in no time, perfect as a last-minute project. It doesn’t require any sewing, it is all crocheted around the black center.
I have used DK yarn and a 3mm crochet hook to create a small poppy, but you can change the hook size and yarn weight to make a bigger one that can be used as appliques on blankets, hairbands, handbags and hats.
Read on to see how to crochet this beautiful poppy pin for yourself.

Quick Notes
- if you want your poppy petals to be more curly, make 3sc in each stitch
- the number at the end of each round is the number of stitches you should have.

With black yarn create a magic ring
Round 1: 6sc into the magic ring, pull the tail of the magic ring to close it = 6
Round 2: inc x 6, sl st in the first stitch, fasten off and weave in the ends = 12
The Outer Poppy Petal
With red yarn, join in any back loop on the black circle.
Round 1: ch3, dc blo in the same front loop, 2dc blo in each of the remaining 11sts, sl st at the top of the ch3 you made at the beginning = 24
Round 2: ch1, 2sc in the sl st you made at the end of round 1, *3sc in the next stitch, 2sc in the next stitch*, repeat ** until the end of the round, sl st in the first sc, fasten off and weave in the ends = 60
