How these little flowers became part of my collection

I designed these small cherry blossoms because I needed a delicate detail for the tail of my flower dragon blanket.

I wanted something small and soft that wouldn’t overwhelm the larger design, and these five-petaled blossoms fit perfectly. The dragon needed a little something extra to make it look complete, and these did the trick.

While they started as a specific solution for the dragon, they turned out to be such a quick and versatile project that I knew they needed their own standalone pattern. I found myself making a whole pile of them in different shades of pink just because they were so easy to finish.

They are the perfect size for scrap-busting, embellishing hats, or adding a floral finish to any project.

I love how they look when you group a few of them together. It makes any plain item look much more personal and thoughtful.

Watch the step-by-step video

I know some people find it easier to learn by watching, so I filmed a video tutorial for you. I show you every step from the first loop to the final pull of the yarn. You can follow along at your own pace and pause the video whenever you need to.

How To Crochet The Flower Without A Magic Ring

Pick your favorite colors and yarn

When I make these, I usually stick to light pinks or whites with a little yellow in the middle. You can use any yarn you have in your bin.

If you use a thicker yarn, your flower will be bigger, and if you use a thin thread, it will be tiny and delicate. It is a great way to use up those small scraps of yarn you have left over from other projects.

BEST FOR: Embellishing baby blankets, decorating sun hats, or making hair clips.
