Free Remembrance Poppy Flower Hexagon Pattern With Video

Poppy Flower Hexagon – Pattern Info
In today’s tutorial, I will show you how to turn a poppy flower into a Poppy Hexagon with this simple tutorial for beginners. If you are looking for a tutorial to turn a poppy flower into a square, check out this tutorial.
You can use this technique to turn any flowers into hexagon motifs and use them to make blankets, cowls, cardigans, and handbags.
This hexagon is adjustable to any size, just add as many rounds as you wish. You can use your preferred yarn weight and colors to match your color scheme.
Scroll down below for the row-by-row pattern and the video tutorial I made for those who learn better from seeing how it’s done.

- Stitches contained within ( ) are made in the same chain space.
- Work in the round, without turning
- The number at the end of each round is the number of stitches you should have in that round. The stitch count does not include the chains made in the corners.
- TIP: To make the hexagon larger, repeat round 6 as many times as you like.
The Base
With black yarn, make a magic ring
R1: 6sc in the magic ring, pull the tail to close the hole shut = 6
R2: 2sc in each st = 12
R3: *sc in next st, 2sc in each st* x 6 = 18
R4: Crochet all stitches in the back loops only. *sc in next st, 2sc in each st, 2sc in next st* x 6 = 24
Change colors to green and continue from where you finished R4
R5: Crochet all stitches in the back loops only. ch3, dc in next 2sts, (dc, ch2, dc) in next st, *dc in next 3sts, (dc, ch2, dc) in next st* x 5 = 30
R6: ch3, dc in next 4sts, (dc, ch2, dc) in next st, *dc in next 5sts, (dc, ch2, dc) in next st* x 5 = 42
Repeat round 6 by making a dc in each stitch and (dc, ch2, dc) in every corner, or fasten off and weave in the ends.
The Poppy Flower Petals
R1 (Outter petal): With red yarn, join in the first exposed front loop from R5. Ch4, tr in the same front loop, 2tr in every front loop from R5, sl st at the top of ch4 to close the round, fasten off, weave in the ends = 48
R2 (Inner petal): With red yarn, join in the first exposed front loop from R3. Ch3, dc in the same front loop, 2dc in every front loop from R3, sl st at the top of ch3 to close the round, fasten off, weave in the ends = 36
