Free Reversible Halloween Ghost Toy Crochet Pattern (No Sewing)
Crochet Amigurumi Reversible Ghost
This week I am sharing with you a free pattern for a Halloween reversible toy: Reversible Halloween Ghost Mood Toy.
Some might ask: What is a Reversible Mood Toy? The Reversible Halloween Ghost is a double-faced toy designed to help work out emotions with young children. It has a face that expresses joy on one side and one that shows sadness on the other side, and it’s a way for your little one to express his or her emotions. It also makes for a great Halloween Decoration.
The Reversible Octopus seems to be by far the most popular design, but I wanted to create a Halloween-inspired design that will both entertain the little ones and decorate the home.
The Reversible Ghost Toy has been designed to be crocheted in one piece, with no sewing required (except the mouth). I used plastic doll eyes, but feel free to embroider yours if you wish.
It works up fast and with minimum ends to weave in, it is the perfect last-minute Halloween toy and decoration you can make.
I used Aran (worsted #4) for my design, but you can use a thinner yarn, DK (light worsted #3), or go thicker and use Bulky Yarn (chunky #5). It all depends on how big you want your ghost to be.

- Work in the round, without turning or closing the rounds.
- Use a stitch marker or a piece of yarn to mark the beginning of each round.
- The number at the end of each round is the stitch count.
- The pattern written between ** is that pattern that needs to be repeated.
Make 2 identical pieces, one in white and one in dark grey. With a 5mm crochet hook, create a magic ring
Round 1: 6sc into the magic ring, pull the tail to close the magic ring hole = 6
Round 2: inc x 6 = 12
Round 3: *inc, sc* x 6 = 18
Round 4: *inc, sc in next 2sts* x 6 = 24
Round 5: *inc, sc in next 3sts* x 6 = 30
Round 6: *inc, sc in next 4sts* x 6 = 36
Round 7: *inc, sc in next 5sts* x 6 = 42
Rounds 8 – 17: sc in each stitch = 42
Insert the eyes between rounds 10 & 11, 7sts apart.
Round 18: *dec, sc in next 5sts* x 6 = 36
Round 19: sc in each stitch = 42
Round 20: *dec, sc in next 4sts* x 6 = 30
Round 21: sc in each stitch = 30
Round 22: sc in next, ch4, sk1 ch and sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 2ch, sl st in the same st you made the last sc, *sc in next 6sts, ch4, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 2ch, sl st in the same st you made the last sc* x 5, sc in next 3sts= 66
Round 23: *sk1, hdc in next 3chain loops on side of the leg, 3hdc in the top st of the leg(the chain you skipped on round 22), hdc in next 3sts you made on the other side of the leg, sk1, sl st in next 2sts* x 6 = 84
Fasten off and weave in all ends on the dark grey piece, and leave the yarn attached on the white piece, we are going to crochet the two pieces together.
Turn the dark grey piece with the wrong side on the outside and insert it inside the white one. Match the dark grey and white feet and continue with the next round to join the two together.
Round 24: sl st through the back loop of the white stitches and front loops of the dark grey stitches to join the two pieces together. Make sure each dark grey stitch matches the white one (legs are aligned and corespondent stitches are one in front of the other) = 84
Once you have sl st all stitches around, fasten off and weave in the ends.
With dark grey yarn (for the white piece) or white yarn (for the dark grey piece) and a tapestry needle, sew the sad mouth on the dark grey piece and the happy mouth on the white piece. If you need more details on how to sew the mouth, check out my step-by-step tutorial on Crafting Happiness Youtube Channel.
