Sunflower Granny Square – Pattern Info

I have a new fun project for you to try this week: Sunflower Granny Square.

These crochet squares are easy and quick to make, with only 3 rounds. If you want to make the square bigger, you can repeat row 3 as many times as you like, but I think they look cute as they are.

They are also quite versatile. You can turn them into baby blankets, afghans, cardigans, bags and even hats. I think they will look cute as a bucket hat you can make and wear this summer.

And if the amount of ends a square with multiple color changes has put you off, don’t worry! In the video tutorial I’m showing you how to deal with them so you don’t have to weave them in.

This is a “no ends to weave in” pattern!

Scroll down for the written row-by-row pattern and the video tutorial I made for those of you who learn better from watching how it’s done.

Video Tutorial

If you are a visual crocheter, here is a step-by-step video tutorial I made for you. Inside, I show you what to do with the ends so you don’t have to weave them in.

There is also a version of this video for left-handed crocheters.

To make a picot stitch, chain 3. Insert the hook through the middle of the base stitch from the top (the stitch from where you made the chain 3), and pick up the front loop and the loop next to it (you will have 3 loops on your hook). Yarn over and pull a loop through all the 3 loops on your hook.
